Ø Some Important
Paragraphs of Class VIII - 2018 (W.B.B.S.E.) for 3rd Summative Test :
MIGRATION TO A NEW PLACE
New country, new life, new challenges. A person experiences all
of these things when they migrate. It is a paradigm to start all over when our
live all ready exist elsewhere. When a person has lived a great part of their
life in a small country, it is a challenge to come to a different country. In a
small town there is a sense of community amongst the neighbors. One has an epiphany
moving to a city, realizing that all the millions of people who live there are
strangers, and that one coming from a small town can never trust just anyone.
Growing up knowing everyone's name and their personalities is a great
difference from not even knowing your next-door neighbor. The sense of security
is now broken completely. School is a completely different matter. The people
that are accustomed to a certain life style and are all of a sudden exposed to
a different setting can see life as difficult and unattainable. There are those
who just drop all of their past values and decide to start fresh in this new
country.
ALONE IN A RAILWAY STATION
I was travelling from Chennai to Mumbai and my train got delayed
by five hours. At first, I could feel the fear churning in my stomach as
it was late in the night and five hours delay means the train would arrive only
early in the morning. But, I was comforted by the sight of policemen
inspecting now and then. I went into the waiting hall and found no space
vacant. So, I came out and decided to sleep by sitting on a chair.
Luckily, the station was crowded and I could spend most of my time
observing. There were different languages spoken around me, children were
becoming grouchy and irritating their parents to provide a place to
sleep. Food stalls were busy with people eating or getting a
parcel. Porters were carrying the luggage by means of a cart to the
respective compartments. I didn’t realize how I slept till the time I was woken
up by the announcement that my train has come.
IMPORTANCE OF VISITING
LIBRARY
A library is a collection
of books. It is a temple of learning. How easy and cheap it is to get knowledge
and wisdom today! Public libraries are meant for all. They have books to suit
different tastes. Our schools and colleges, too, have libraries of their own.
Such libraries are meant for students and teachers only. So, they have a wide
variety of books. It is not a fit place for talks or discussions. It is a place
for serious studies. A library can help you to some extent. But It cannot make
you a poet or a scientist or a thinker if you do not study the great “Book of
Life and Nature”. Great books or great writers can only open your eyes. If you
only copy others you can be a scholar, but not a great thinker. A library very
often makes you a book-worm. So, you have sometimes to come out of the library
and move about like a bee.
HOW I SPEND A DAY WITH A BIRD
I knew birds can speak, but didn't expect them to copy our human
language. I was astonished to see a talking bird. It has vocal cards quite
similar to us. It imitates our words. I was alone, as both my parents went to
their offices. Neither the television, nor phone be my company. The bird which
was gifted yesterday proved to be a good friend. It was chirping very nice. It
is very beautiful. Its words are very sweet. I enjoyed playing with it. It used
to copy all my words. I learnt from the maid how to feed it, and daily I used
to feed it. It was really a awesome experience with a talking bird.
